The front door mat buying guide
Size, non-slip backing, and season — the three things that actually matter when you pick an outdoor mat for your front door.
A front door mat is the hardest-working inch of your home — it catches the dirt, sets the tone, and keeps everyone from tracking the outside in. Whether you call it an outdoor mat for the front door, an entry mat, or a welcome mat, the buying rules are the same. Here is the short, honest version.
Pick the right size first
17×30″
The standard front door mat size — fits most single doors and apartments.
24×36″
For wider doorways, storm doors, and covered porches that want more coverage.
24×48″
For double doors and spacious porches — a generous landing zone.
Full detail in our front door mat buying guide, including a maple leaf doormat and a Hey Y’all welcome mat in every size.
Backing designed to help reduce shifting
Every PKFEDR mat uses a rubber backing designed to help reduce shifting during everyday use, with a low 0.4″ profile intended to clear the door. Actual grip varies with the floor material, moisture, debris, and maintenance; keep the area beneath the mat clean and dry, and reposition it if it moves.
Choose a design for the season
A mat is the first thing guests meet, so let it say the right thing. Our three collections:
Fall
Maple leaves, pumpkins, harvest trucks — late August through Thanksgiving.
Halloween
Friendly ghosts and not-too-scary spiders for trick-or-treat season.
Everyday
Classic welcomes, Hey Y’all, and timeless stripes — all year round.
